The US’s retail industry registered a 4.9% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.8% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.66% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in July 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 77.91% in July 2022, registering a 15.34% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.62% share, a decrease of 43.31% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 5.5%, registering a 15.93% decline from June 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 4.36%, down 25% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Amazon posted 2,456 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 22.33% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 287 jobs and a 16.08% drop. The Home Depot with 128 IT jobs and Chewy with 111 jobs, recorded a 5.19% decline and a 28.39% decrease, respectively, while CVS Health recorded a decline of 40.54% with 110 job postings during July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.47%, down by 16% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.14% share, registered a decline of 8.22% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 24.34% share, down 32.69% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.05%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
