The US’s retail industry registered a 3.2% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.73% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 81.71% in February 2022, registering a 1.25% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 6.98% share, a decrease of 2.23% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.07%, registering a 3.63% decline from January 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 2.96%, up 5.68% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 3.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Amazon posted 4,236 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a drop of 5.43% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 323 jobs and a 5.21% growth. CVS Health with 203 IT jobs and Chewy with 152 jobs, recorded a 2.01% flat growth and an 11.11% decrease, respectively, while Walgreens Boots Alliance recorded an increase of 266.67% with 99 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.15%, up by 0.85% from January 2022. Entry Level positions with a 31.63% share, registered an increase of 0.45% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 20.48% share, down 9.55% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.73%, recording a month-on-month decline of 13.21%.
