US-based company Walmart’s IT hiring rose 0.7% in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 6.45% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs claimed a 2.77% share in the company’s total hiring activity in December 2021, and recorded a 0.41% growth over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Walmart IT hiring in December 2021

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Walmart, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 85.05% in December 2021, and a 22.65% drop over November 2021, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 6.41% in December 2021, and registered a decline of 30.77%. Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 4.98% in December 2021, a 16.67% rise from November 2021.

North America drives IT hiring at Walmart

North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in December 2021 with a 95.37% share, which marked a 23.21% drop over the previous month.

Asia-Pacific stood next with 4.63%, registering a 48% month-on-month decline.

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 94.66% share in December 2021, a 22.9% decline over November 2021. India featured next with a 4.63% share, down 48% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.71% share, a decline of 50% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level jobs lead Walmart IT hiring activity in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.43%, down by 13.47% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 33.1% share, a decline of 36.3% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.34% share, down 40% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 40%.
