Supermarket chain Aldi UK has revealed plans to hire 500 individuals for its apprenticeship scheme across the country in 2024.

The scheme, now open for applications, offers roles in sectors including stores, buying, logistics and HGV driving.

The company has also increased pay rates for store and warehouse colleagues, with apprenticeship positions seeing rises of up to 37%.

Store apprentices at Aldi start work earning £8.44 per hour, increasing to £11.83 by the third year of employment, with paid breaks included.

Logistics and driver apprenticeships can earn up to £10.96 and £14.13 per hour respectively.

Successful candidates obtain industry-recognised qualifications while working and benefit from shopping discounts, a bike-to-work scheme and free mortgage advice.

The initiative is part of Aldi’s broader expansion strategy, which added 6,000 new jobs in 2023.

Aldi UK learning and development director Lisa Murphy stated: “We’re on the lookout for hardworking and driven individuals to bolster our Aldi team. By joining our apprenticeship scheme, individuals will become experts in their roles and receive in-depth skills training at one of the fastest-growing retailers in the country.

“The apprentices of today are the leaders of tomorrow, so we’re always on the hunt for more amazing individuals from all backgrounds to join our team.”

In December 2023, Aldi announced price reductions for more than 40 of its most commonly purchased items, including coffee, tinned soups and pet food.
