Amazon said customers in these cities can receive deliveries within minutes.

Amazon Now offers tens of thousands of everyday products, including beauty products, fashion, fruit, frozen food, home and kitchen goods, personal care items, small appliances, and vegetables.

Orders are processed through close to 800 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres.

Amazon introduced Amazon Now in India and the UAE last year, with delivery of thousands of products within 20 minutes.

Earlier this month, the company said the service had reached $1bn in annualised gross sales in India, based on the preceding three months.

Amazon also said it was on track to expand Amazon Now to more than 300 cities across the country.

Amazon India everyday essentials vice-president Harsh Goyal said: “Amazon Now continues to be the fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in Amazon India’s history, with orders doubling every quarter.

“This accelerated rollout underscores our commitment to making fast and reliable delivery accessible to customers across the country. We look forward to continue scaling up and offering the widest selection of products at the fastest delivery speeds this festive season.”

Amazon was also reported this month to have outlined plans to invest $3bn in expanding its quick-commerce business in India through 2030.

It was described as the company’s largest commitment to the sector so far.

In April, it brought Amazon Now to the US and Europe.

Earlier this month, Amazon India announced its “biggest-ever” festive-season expansion, adding 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations.

The move included its first fulfilment centres in Raipur, Ranchi and Varanasi.
