US-based furniture and mattress retailer Art Van Furniture has acquired two Pennsylvania companies, Levin Furniture and Wolf Furniture.

Founded in 1920, Levin Furniture is a family-owned and operated business in Pittsburgh.

The acquisition of Levin Furniture will add 35 stores across Pennsylvania and Ohio to Art Van Furniture’s portfolio of brands and showrooms.

“Levin and Wolf are a perfect fit for Art Van’s growing family of brands.”

Art Van Furniture president and CEO Kim Yost said: “Today’s acquisitions of these two well-established furniture retailers, both intricately woven into the fabric of their communities, underscores a transformative new era of thoughtful expansion at Art Van Furniture.

“From their commitment to their customers to their long-standing histories and corporate cultures, Levin and Wolf are a perfect fit for Art Van’s growing family of brands.”

With the acquisitions, the company is set to achieve $1.3bn in expected annual sales.

Besides, the acquisitions will add 1,900 new employees to Art Van’s current employee base.

Notwithstanding the transaction, Levin and Wolf Furniture will continue to operate under the same names and their existing employees will be retained.

Levin Furniture president Robert Levin said: “Becoming part of the Art Van Furniture family of retailers will allow Levin to cement future growth, continue to be of service to the community and provide a superior shopping experience.”

Established in 1902, Wolf Furniture operates 18 showrooms in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.

Art Van Furniture currently has a network of 176 stores, including 18 Art Van franchise stores, across nine states.
