Athletic Supply / Barcelona Sporting Goods has acquired Williams’ Sporting Goods (WSG), Cardinal’s Sports Center (Cardinal’s) and Team Sports (TSO) in the US.
An affiliate of US-based private equity firm Trivest Partners, Athletic Supply expects to expand its product lines following the transactions, as well as deepen ties with vendors, increase its sales coverage network and expand its presence into the Midwest US region.
Following the transaction, key executives from the three acquired companies will join Athletic Supply’s management team and retain ownership in the combined business.
Headquartered in Paris, Texas, WSG offers apparel and sports equipment to schools and sports organisations in the Northeast Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma regions.
Based in Lubbock, Texas, Cardinal’s Sports Center provides athletic equipment and apparel to customers across West Texas.
Established in 1980, TSO will serve as the platform for Athletic Supply’s growth in the Midwest US region. It offers athletic apparel, uniforms, equipment and footwear to the Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana markets.
Athletic Supply closed the partnership with WSG in May, Cardinal’s in August and TSO in September.
The company currently operates a team of 80 sales professionals and a customer base of more than 3,500 accounts across seven US states.
