French supermarket chain Carrefour Supermarkets has announced it will open more than 200 Gome outlets in China.

“We’re confident in our alliance with Gome, and we believe this ‘shop-in-shop’ model will greatly benefit our customers.”

Expected to open by the end of July, the Chinese electronics retailer Gome will offer household appliances, such as computers, televisions, cell phones and accessories, according to Xinhuanet.com.

Gome currently operates shop-in-shop outlets in 11 Carrefour stores across Shanghai, Beijing, Wuxi and Hangzhou.

Carrefour Asia president Thierry Garnier was quoted by Xinhuanet saying: “This strategic partnership between Carrefour China and Gome combines respective expertise of two retailers. We’re confident in our alliance with Gome, and we believe this ‘shop-in-shop’ model will greatly benefit our customers.”

The Gome shops will occupy around 300m2 to 500m2 area of space.

This partnership will help Gome to leverage the foot traffic at Carrefour’s stores.
