Retail technology provider Fujitsu Frontech North America (FFNA) has introduced a new mobile application to offer a safe autonomous shopping experience for retail customers.
The platform, U-Shop, has been developed to tackle new retail challenges. It is a part of Fujitsu S3 suite of modular hardware and software building blocks.
U-Shop allows retailers to deliver contactless shopping experience on smartphones to their customers.
Using U-Shop’s Scan’n’Go, customers can scan products on their iOS or Android devices while walking through the store and make payment at a self-checkout station.
In addition, customers can select U-Shop ASSIST feature to complete the self-checkout experience with the help of their device.
This eliminates contact with shared system surfaces, helps minimise self-checkout friction and enhances customer loyalty, according to the company.

By GlobalDataFujitsu Frontech North America president and CEO Michi Sugawara said: “Learning curves create frustration, and frustration creates lost business. As part of our digital solutions suite Fujitsu S3, U-Shop drives adoption by delivering the intuitive experience today’s customers expect directly on their own devices.
“U-Shop eliminates the learning curves associated with typical self-service technologies while helping retailers improve operational processes with little to no impact on their existing in-store infrastructure.”
