Flipkart, a Walmart-owned e-commerce marketplace based in India, has launched a new grocery fulfilment centre in Malda, West Bengal.

The new 1,13,000ft² facility will provide a platform for thousands of local sellers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and farmers to access the national market.

The new facility will dispatch 100,000 units per day.

It is set to handle more than 7,000 orders daily, serving Berhampore, Malda, North Bengal and parts of the Indian states of Jharkhand and Bihar.

The centre will offer locally popular brands and items from major fast-moving consumer goods companies.

Flipkart’s Malda facility, the fourth of its kind in the state, will create more than 700 direct and indirect job opportunities.
