Canada’s discount store chain Giant Tiger Stores (Giant Tiger) has deployed Aruba ’s Mobile First Network technology at multiple locations, including its 600,000ft² distribution centre, as part of its expansion plans.
Aruba provides next-generation networking solutions to the enterprises of all sizes worldwide.
Giant Tiger offers a wide range of apparel, grocery and home fashion at its 240 retail locations spread across the country.
The Aruba network will enable the new distribution centre to automate its inventory operations and help in establishing a secure and pervasive wireless connectivity.
Giant Tiger Stores network engineering and operations director Eric Boudreau said: “Having a network that is always available and enables greater efficiencies is a huge priority for Giant Tiger.
“Aruba ’s mobile-first approach matched our organisation’s need to streamline operations, improve inventory processes and move towards efficiencies and efficacy.”
As part of the digital transformation, Giant Tiger deployed Aruba ’s 300 series indoor and outdoor access points, 7200 series mobility controllers, 2920 Switches, AirWave network management and ClearPass Guest for authenticating visitors at its headquarters, distribution centres and freezer facilities.
With the deployment of Aruba ‘s network technology, the retailer anticipates to further improve its warehouse management system and expedite supply picking while maintaining the accuracy.
Giant Tiger Stores information systems senior vice-president Jeff Scobie said: “With the new, Aruba mobile-first foundation now in place, we’re confident that we can layer new applications and capabilities on top of the network as we need them.
“And by transforming and improving how we operate, we can continue to meet our company’s core objective of delivering valued products at low prices to our customers.”
