Canadian-American clothing company Gildan Activewear has expanded the presence of its American Apparel brand globally with the launch of a new online store.
Following its re-launch in the US and the UK, the new e-commerce website will allow the fashion basics brand to offer its products to more than 200 countries.
The brand’s new collections, including t-shirts, disco pants, bodysuits, high-waist jeans, metallic leggings, fisherman pullovers and unisex hoodies, will be featured on the website available in a range of sizes and fits.
Apart from this, the company’s marketing team is running a launch campaign, Back to Basics, to support the expansion on various digital platforms, and on billboards in select markets.
Established in Los Angeles in 1989, American Apparel was acquired by Gildan in February last year.
Gildan manufactures and markets everyday basic apparel, including activewear, underwear, socks, hosiery and legwear products under a portfolio of brands in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Apart from Gildan and American Apparel, other brands offered by the company include Comfort Colors, Gildan Hammer, Anvil, Alstyle, Gold Toe, Secret, Kushyfoot, Silks, Secret Silky, Peds, MediPeds and Therapy Plus.
The company also has distribution rights in the US and Canada through a sock licensing agreement signed under its Under Armour brand.
