Global speciality health, wellness and performance retailer General Nutrition (GNC) has announced plans to grow its business in India working in partnership with Guardian Healthcare Services (Guardian).

Guardian is India’s fastest growing chain of health, wellness and beauty stores with more than 50 stores in India.

As part of the expansion plan, Guardian intends to retail GNC products across 1,000 retail outlets this year and approximately 4,000 new retail outlets in India by 2020.

In addition to expansion plans with Guardian outlets, GNC intends to expand its footprint in the Indian market through multiple channels, including retail, e-commerce and distribution under its international growth strategy.

“We are very excited about our expansion plans in India, where there is a significant opportunity for growth.”

GNC chief executive officer Ken Martindale said: “We are very excited about our expansion plans in India, where there is a significant opportunity for growth.

“Guardian Healthcare Services is an established player in India’s health and wellness industry and we believe the strength of our two companies will position us as one of the leaders in this attractive and fast-growing market.”

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, GNC offers an assortment of health, wellness and performance products, including proteins, vitamins, herbs, greens and a wide range of supplements for weight management.
