Retail store technology provider Toshiba and its business partner Línea DataScan have enhanced the shopping experience for customers of Columbian grocery retailer Grupo Éxito.

The partners leveraged Toshiba’s digital commerce platform TCx Elevate to offer rapid checkout times and additional payment options for customers.

Grupo Éxito sales and operations vice-president Guillaume Seneclauze said: “Toshiba’s technology has allowed us to place the customer at the centre.

“The customer has changed a lot with the digitalisation of the shopping experience. As a result, when we are able to create awareness to help them see how technology can facilitate an easier shopping experience and facilitate payment, they end up adopting and enjoying its use quickly.”

The company’s Éxito, Carulla, Surtimax and Super Inter stores across Colombia implemented the solution.

Using Toshiba’s platform, the retailer’s stores are offering new applications, frictionless checkout touch screens for customers.

The retailer noted that its technology enables it to offer benefits to the store associates.

Grupo Éxito distributed technology department head Boris Ceballos said: “Our commitment was to Toshiba’s platform with TCx Elevate because with it we saw how to solve the company’s challenge, to offer multiple payment options maintaining the investment protection we’ve made for years on the POS platform.”

As a local integrator, Línea DataScan has offered local support. It also will maintain Toshiba’s POS systems throughout Grupo Éxito-branded stores.

Last June, Toshiba’s solutions also helped to advance Albertsons consumer-centric checkout experiences.
