Dutch discount retail chain HEMA is planning to open two new stores in Vienna, Austria, by next year in order to expand its international presence.

The company noted that initially it will focus on the Austrian market with its two stores in Vienna, and will increase its store count across the country in the near future.

HEMA plans to accelerate its expansion plans by opening nearly 35 new international stores by next year.

The company recently expanded its presence in the European market by opening its stores in German cities such as Cologne and Frankfurt.

It also plans to open additional stores in Stuttgart and other cities in Germany by early next year.

HEMA is currently exploring options to open its stores in Barcelona and Madrid.

HEMA expanded its footprint in the UK market by opening its flagship store on Tottenham Court Road at the end of Oxford Street in London.

Established in 1926, the retailer offers a wide range of products and has more than 30,000 own brand products and services.

Its food product range includes syrup waffles, ginger cake and several seasonal items such as chocolate letters and gingerbread nuts.

With a workforce of more than 11,000 employees, HEMA operates over 700 stores across seven countries worldwide.
