Listings also include product descriptions, assembly instructions and care information.

Mattresses, appliances, food, modified products, recalled products and non-Ikea items are excluded.

Listing is free for Ikea Family members, who can receive payment in cash or through an Ikea digital refund card carrying a 15% bonus.

Ikea said items listed on the marketplace cost 60% less on average than comparable new products.

The marketplace operates alongside Ikea’s Buyback & Resell service, which was introduced in 2021 and allows customers to sell eligible products to Ikeain exchange for in-store credit.

IkeaUK & Ireland sustainability manager Greg Lucas said: “The way people furnish their homes has changed. Whether they are moving, redecorating or looking for a particular piece, more customers are considering pre-owned furniture alongside new and are actively searching for items that can help create a home that feels personal to them.”

In Spain and Portugal, Ingka Group – Ikea’s largest retailer – plans to test integrating its Buyback service directly into the online platform by the end of December 2026, allowing Ikea to make direct purchase offers on qualifying items listed by sellers.

In Portugal and Sweden, meanwhile, an active TippTapp pilot is helping buyers and sellers transport purchased items between homes.

Ingka Group said the marketplace recorded 15 million visits and 95,700 listings across its first six markets up to 31 August 2026.

It added that 25.5% of users were new or reactivated Ikea Family members.

The second-hand marketplace is already available in eight European markets, including Spain, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden and Belgium.

Germany is due to join on 14 October.

The launch follows Ingka Group’s €1.2bn ($1.34bn) investment across Europe to reduce prices.

This includes a €6m investment by Ikea Ireland to lower prices on 457 products by up to 25%.
