US grocery delivery service Instacart has expanded its alcohol delivery service to more customers across the US.

The expansion now allows customers across 14 states to place one-hour allocated alcohol orders from a range of national, regional and local grocers, and speciality wine and liquor stores.

The company’s alcohol delivery service is available in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

Retailers offering services through the platform include Albertsons, Kroger, Publix, Schnucks and Stater, BevMo!, Binny’s Beverage Depot and Total Wine.

“We’re offering customers more choice and making it easier for Instacart to be their ‘one-stop-shop’ to get the groceries they need.”

Instacart chief business officer Nilam Ganenthiran said: “Part of grocery shopping for many people goes beyond getting fresh produce, meats and pantry staples, and includes picking up the perfect bottle of wine for a dinner party or their favourite beer to sip while watching the big game.

“By working alongside our retail partners to add alcohol to the marketplace, we’re offering customers more choice and making it easier for Instacart to be their ‘one-stop-shop’ to get the groceries they need – including beer, wine and spirits – from the retailers they love.”

Customers can visit the Instacart website or the Instacart mobile app to shop for alcohol by selecting their city and store, and can shop directly from beer, wine and spirit ‘aisles’ of select retailers on the Instacart storefront via the digital platforms.
