US-based fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch intends to open stores in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman via a franchise agreement with Majid Al Futtaim Fashion.

The retailer already has eight stores in Kuwait and the UAE through Majid Al Futtaim Fashion, and the latest franchise agreement covers the Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie and Hollister brands.

"This arrangement represents our second major franchise partnership, as we continue to expand our brand reach."

Abercrombie & Fitch anticipates to open its first store in Qatar in the first quarter of next year, and in Saudi Arabia later in the year.

Abercrombie & Fitch executive chairman Arthur Martinez said: "We expect there to be strong demand for our brands in these new markets.

"This arrangement represents our second major franchise partnership, as we continue to expand our brand reach."

Majid Al Futtaim Fashion CEO Rajiv Suri said: "We have seen significant demand within the last few years in the UAE and Kuwait and we look forward to helping Abercrombie & Fitch Co. grow in this market."
