US-based online retailer Amazon has introduced its Launchpad platform in India to help start-ups to sell their products.

Enable start-ups to gain more visibility, the portal features products from more than 400 start-ups, 25 of which are India-based firms, reported mashable.com.

“The platform will help entrepreneurs increase their sales and attain visibility.”

Introduced last year, Launchpad has assisted over 1,200 start-ups worldwide in selling their products.

This service is currently available in seven regions in India.

Amazon has partnered with Nasscom, Indian Angel Network and DIPP’s start-up India Initiative to help start-ups deal with policy and financial aspects, reported Forbesindia.com

Amazon India vice-president and country manager Amit Agarwal was quoted by the website as saying: “The idea is to encourage innovation in the country.

“The platform will help entrepreneurs increase their sales and attain visibility.”

Firms such as coffee powder manufacturer True South and electronics company Seven Sense Technologies are claimed to have used the platform.

Even as these start-ups sell products through other channels, they rely on Amazon to gain visibility.

Amazon India expects several start-ups to utilise its platform in the future.
