US based e-commerce firm Amazon plans to open its 10th fulfilment centre in Sacramento, California.
The facility will be the fourth centre announced by the company within a span of four months.
Besides the recently announced centres in north Sacramento, Tracy, and Eastvale, Amazon currently fulfils customer orders at Golden State facilities in Moreno Valley, Patterson, Redlands, Rialto, and San Bernardino. It also operates sortation centres in Newark and San Bernardino.
Amazon's vice president of North American operations Akash Chauhan said: “Our ongoing expansion in California started just four short years ago and is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in this state.
“Customers are seeing on a regular basis Amazon’s customer obsession, innovative culture, and operational excellence, which is all driven by the 14,000-plus Californians who work in Amazon's fulfilment centers across the state. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in California.”
At the new 855,001f² fulfilment facility, employees will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics, and toys.
