Online retailer Amazon is planning to create more than 100,000 new full-time jobs in the US over the next 18 months.
Jobs will be created across the multiple new fulfillment centres announced by the retailer, as well as at its Marketplace and Amazon Flex businesses.
Over the last five years, Amazon created more than 150,000 jobs in the US, increasing its workforce from 30,000 employees in 2011 to over 180,000 at the end of last year.
Upon completion, the expansion of the retailer’s headquarters in Seattle, Washington, is expected to increase the opportunities at its corporate offices and fulfillment centres.
The new fulfilment centres in Texas, California, Illinois and New Jersey are expected to collectively create more than 14,500 jobs.
The retailer also plans to hire and train additional 25,000 military veterans and their spouses over the next five years.
