Amazon UK is planning to open a new fulfilment centre next year in Tilbury, Essex, UK.
The new fulfillment centre is expected to increase the company’s product variety to more than 150 million items, thereby catering to increasing demand.
It will also address the needs of the independent small businesses selling on Amazon Marketplace using Fulfilment by Amazon warehousing and delivery.
Amazon UK operations vice-president John Tagawa said: “We are delighted to be creating more than 1,500 new permanent full-time jobs with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.”
The company will start recruiting for various positions for the Tilbury fulfilment centre later this year.
The centre will be equipped with Amazon Robotics technology in which robots will shift and lift products, reducing the time taken to stow items for sale or pick them for new orders.
The opening of the new fulfillment centre is expected to generate 1,500 permanent jobs.
Amazon is also planning to open another fulfilment centre in Doncaster next year, which is expected to create 500 full-time permanent jobs.
