US-based firm Camping World Holdings is planning to acquire outdoor gear, camping apparel and supplies retailer Uncle Dan’s Outfitters.

Through the acquisition, Camping World intends to strengthen its position in the broader outdoor lifestyle market.

The proposed move comes after the company acquired certain assets of hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor gear retailer Gander Mountain, boating and marine accessories specialist Overton’s and outdoor gear online retailer TheHouse.com.

“Uncle Dan’s Outfitters strengthens Camping World Holding’s efforts to build a seamless approach to the outdoor lifestyle market.”

Camping World Holdings chairman Marcus Lemonis said: “Under the leadership of Brent Weiss and family for over 45 years, Uncle Dan’s Outfitters strengthens Camping World Holding’s efforts to build a seamless approach to the outdoor lifestyle market and further positions the company to expand the reach and product offerings of our e-commerce business.”

The acquisitions, including the planned purchase of Uncle Dan’s, are expected to give the company a strong foundation in the market.

The company noted that the proposed acquisition of Uncle Dan’s is in line with its strategy to penetrate the market through an omnichannel approach.

Uncle Dan’s is also set to complement the company’s efforts to expand its udans.com e-commerce platform by enhancing customer reach and product base.

Uncle Dan’s is expected to supply outdoor gear, apparel and camping products to the company’s rebranded Gander Outdoors retail outlets across the country.

Camping World operates through more than 135 retail locations in 36 states.
