Hypermarket and supermarket chain Carrefour is planning to open a new hypermarket at Cityland Mall, Dubai, UAE.
Cityland Mall is set to open in second quarter of 2018 and the new 100,000ft² hypermarket is claimed to be the largest in Dubai.
The aim of the new hypermarket is to cater to the growing residential communities surrounding the mall, which is situated beside Global Village.
Cityland Group chief executive officer and board member Fahimuddin Sharfuddin said: “Bringing in such global players of repute is part of our ongoing approach to offer a great mix of retailers to visitors who will enjoy the entire experience surrounded by the refreshing ambience of the green spaces across the mall.”
Carrefour has recently revealed its plans to expand its presence in the UAE with ten new stores by next year.
The opening of the two hypermarkets and eight supermarkets contribute to the company's target of 140 hypermarkets and 210 supermarkets by 2018.
Carrefour UAE executive regional director Miguel Povedano said: “The Cityland Mall Carrefour hypermarket will offer customers both variety and value on up to 80,000 products, catering to a wide range of tastes and needs.”
Carrefour is operated by the Majid Al Futtaim shopping mall, which was founded in 1992.
Cityland Mall is an intiative by Cityland Group to unite entertainment with nature.
