French-based retailer Carrefour has opened a new Express convenience store in Torre Z Berrini building at Sao Paulo, marking the company's 70th outlet in Brazil.

The new store is expected to strengthen the retailer's strategy to provide customers better levels of flexibility and convenience, by offering fresh and ready-to-consume products.

The Express brand allows Carrefour to meet the increasing customer demand for smaller purchases at stores near the home or workplace by enhancing the multiformat services provided by the retailer.

"The new store is expected to strengthen the retailer's strategy to provide customers better levels of flexibility and convenience."

Carrefour opened its first convenience format outlet in 2014 in the Tatuapé district.

The retailer also opened two new hypermarkets in Spain last December.

Creating additional jobs for 140 people, the new hypermarkets are a part of Carrefour's agreement with Eroski Group, which includes the acquisition of more than 30 hypermarkets, eight shopping centres and 22 petrol stations.
