Kanemi has signed an agreement with Nagai to acquire the food manufacturing business of two of its factories located at Adachi, Tokyo, and Akita, Akita Prefecture.
Kanemi is a boxed meals, sushi, and other prepared foods producer and seller, while Nagai is a provider of harbour transport, shipping, customs clearance and warehousing services.
Both companies involved in the transaction are based in Japan. The transaction is expected to strengthen Kanemi’s business.
Malaysian online grocery store provider Freshcart Grocer has secured $0.5m from a group of venture capital firms and private investors, including KK Fund and Cradle Fund.
Freshcart plans to use the funds to introduce a new office supplies portal called Supplycart.
Amazon has announced plans to acquire the publishing business of Westland for Rs392m ($5.94m).
An India-based subsidiary of Trent, Westland is a retailer and publisher of books.
The acquisition will enable Amazon to strengthen its presence in the books market in India.
