Japanese convenience store operator FamilyMart and Japan Post have collaborated to provide a delivery service in Asia.
This service will enable foreign visitors in the country to send packages from FamilyMart’s domestic stores. These packages can be picked from its outlets across Asia.
FamilyMart will be first convenience store in Japan to offer an international delivery service to overseas visitors.
The convenience chain expects the service will be used by visitors to send gifts and other items, which will be delivered using Japan Post’s distribution network.
The service may be launched this fiscal year.
It will be first launched in Taiwan where the convenience chain operator has several stores.
The service will later be expanded to countries such as Thailand and China.
FamilyMart, as of 29 February, has 11,656 outlets in Japan, followed by Taiwan with 2,985 outlets and China with 1,530 stores.
