Russia-based food retailer Dixy Group has purchased 12 properties in Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

The 30,000m² area purchased includes nine properties from supermarket chain Sedmoy Kontinent.

"Most of these properties will soon change their signs to Victoria’s green apple.”

A part of the firm's expansion strategy, the move will extend Dixy's presence in the region, which is represented by Victoria, Victoria Kvartal, Dyoshevo, and Cash stores.

The new properties will be supervised by Victoria Division.

Dixy Group general director Sergey Belyakov said: “Customers know and love Victoria brand, and I am pleased that now more Kaliningrad customers will have a chance to use our services and enjoy  shopping at our supermarkets.

"Our objective today is to improve efficiency of operations in the key regions and the announced transaction provides for further implementation of this strategy.

"Most of these properties will soon change their signs to Victoria’s green apple.”

Expansion of the Victoria chain is expected to allow social and economic development of the region, as well as boost employment opportunities.

As of 30 November, Dixy operated a total of 2,788 stores, including 2,634 Dixy convenience stores, 114 Victoria stores, and 40 MegaMart and MiniMart hypermarkets.

Last year, the retailer posted a revenue of  RUR272bn ($4.4bn).
