UK-based household furnishings and interiors retailer Habitat is set to open four new Mini Habitat concession stores in Sainsbury’s by the middle of next month.

The store openings will come up in Monk’s Cross, York; Cheadle, Manchester; Heaton, Newcastle; and Wandsworth, London.

Each 2,000ft² store will feature an edited range of more than 600 products across furniture, upholstery, lighting, homewares and textiles.

The proposed openings are consistent with the company’s plan to create a network of regional touchpoint stores to complement its multichannel growth strategy.

“Our customers increasingly want choice, flexibility and speed and we are evolving the brand into a truly multi-channel business.”

Habitat managing director Clare Askem said: “We’ve refined our product range based on customer feedback, while our in-store visual merchandising and service proposition has been adapted to what customers want on a ‘weekly shop’ basis.”

“Our customers increasingly want choice, flexibility and speed and we are evolving the brand into a truly multi-channel business that allows customers to shop how and when they want, be that online, in-store or a combination of the two.”

According to the company, further investment in smaller footprint concession formats is directed at spreading its brand awareness with Sainsbury’s customers.

The stores will allow customers to touch and feel the products, as well as provide access to the habitat.co.uk website on digital screens and iPads.

In-store staff will also be able to explain product features to customers and highlight additional product options online.

The planned openings have increased the total number of Mini Habitat concession stores to ten.

The company recently launched a Click & Collect service that enables customers to pick-up homeware products from more than 2,000 Sainsbury’s locations at their convenient time.
