Motor company Harley-Davidson India has opened a Warrior Harley-Davidson outlet in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, marking the company's first concept store in the country.

The opening of a new concept store aims to expand the company's retail presence in smaller towns and cities, thereby increasing its customer base in India.

The newly opened store is expected to handle the sales and service of Harley-Davidson bikes, as well as serve the company's customer experience concepts in smaller forms.

"Our focus has always been on developing the culture of leisure motorcycling in India."

Harley-Davidson international market vice-president and managing director Marc McAllister was quoted by media sources as saying: "Our focus has always been on developing the culture of leisure motorcycling in India.

“We expect the next level of our growth to come in from Tier II and III cities and expansion to these markets is an important part of our strategy.”

The new store will enable the American bike manufacturer to offer after-sales services to Kolhapur-based customers and attract potential regional customers.

Operational since 2009, Harley-Davidson India offers spare parts and merchandise such as motor clothes apparel and collectables.
