US-based electronics and appliance retailer HHGregg intends to shut six outlets in two states.

The stores are located in Milwaukee and Illinois.

The company was quoted by Ibj.com as saying: “At HHGregg, we pride ourselves in being focused on serving our customers in the best possible way.

“As a natural course of business, we regularly evaluate our real estate positions to determine when and where new store openings, relocations, or at times closings make the most sense for our customers and our company.”

The employees affected by the move will be given an opportunity to work at other HHGregg outlets.

In addition to the closures, HHGregg announced changes in senior management last week.

The company appointed Kevin Kovacs as its new chief financial officer, replacing Robert Riesbeck, who was promoted as CEO.
