Swedish home furnishings retailer Ikea has expanded its retail presence in the US by opening a new store in Columbus, Ohio.

The new 354,000ft² store is Ikea’s second store in the state and 44th in the US, as well as increases the number of Ikea stores in 48 countries to 397.

Ikea store manager David Garcia said: “We are excited to bring the unique Ikea family-friendly shopping experience and affordable home furnishings of good design to Columbus and Central Ohio.”

With close to 325 employees, Ikea Columbus houses a 450-seat restaurant and offers a supervised play area for children.

The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert, including specialties such as Ikea Swedish meatballs, seafood plates, pasta, chicken, salads, sandwiches and vegetarian dishes.

The Exit Bistro at the store serves hot dogs, pizza, cinnamon buns, frozen yogurt, sundaes and beverages.

The Columbus store features 10,000 exclusively designed items, 41 inspirational room settings and three model home interiors, as well as 26 checkout lanes to ensure efficient customer purchasing.

It also has 1,100 parking spaces with three electric-vehicle charging stations, and a rooftop solar array has also been installed atop the store.

The store offers warehouse picking, home-delivery, assembly, and kitchen planning and installation services, in addition to free design appointments with a furnishings consultant.
