Furnishings retailer Ikea is set to open its first store at Memphis, Tennessee, US, on 14 December.
The new 271,000ft² store was built on 35 acres in the Wolfchase corridor and features an architectural design, along with rooftop solar array and three electric vehicle charging stations.
The opening ceremony will see customer giveaways worth thousands of dollars such as EKTORP sofas, POANG armchairs, and giftcards. Giveaways will also include free mattresses on 15 December and free monthly meatball meals for a year on 16 December.
Ikea Memphis store manager Trisha Bevering said: “Just as the Ikea store concept will introduce a new way of shopping for the home, we want customers waiting in line to visit our store to enjoy the unique experience too."
In addition to an assortment of furnishings, the new store will provide free design appointments with a furnishings consultant.
It will offer catalogues, measuring tape, pencils, store maps and three types of carts with 14 checkout lanes to improve the customer experience.
The retailer also provides warehouse picking, home-delivery, assembly, kitchen planning and installation services.
Founded in 1943, Ikea currently operates 392 stores in 48 countries.
While the Memphis store is the first in Tennessee, it brings the Ikea stores in US to 43.
