Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo plans to open a new three-storey shop in Perth, Western Australia.
The store would be located in the Plaza Arcade, which is undergoing a $6m refurbishment that would see a section of the Murray Street arcade create a single retail tenancy over three storeys, reported The West Australian.
Earlier this year, Business News reported that Plaza Arcade owner Starhill Global REIT has submitted re-development plans to refurbish the Murray Street mall. The company, however, refused to reveal the name of retailer.
Last month, plans were approved by Perth’s development assessment panel.
Other fashion retailers such as Zara, Topshop and H&M have also been planning to open stores in Perth.
Last week, UK retailer Superdry also announced its plans to set up its first Perth store in Hay Street mall.
A Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer, Uniqlo has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Fast Retailing since November 2005.
In addition to Japan, the company has outlets in 14 countries.
