US-based luxury accessory and lifestyle retailer Kate Spade New York is planning to open its first standalone store outside London at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

To be located on Bluewater’s lower Guildhall, the 1,600ft² boutique will feature the brand’s collection of handbags, small leather goods, apparel, footwear, fashion accessories, technology, and stationery.

The upcoming boutique is the retailer’s fifth location in the UK, adding to stores at Regent Street, Covent Garden, Sloane Square, and Westfield in London.

Kate Spade New York president and chief creative officer Deborah Lloyd was quoted by media sources as saying: “With a reputation as the leading retail and leisure destination in the UK, Bluewater was a clear choice for our first full price store outside London.

"[The] boutique will feature the brand’s collection of handbags, small leather goods, apparel, footwear, fashion accessories, technology, and stationery."

“As an American brand with a global sensibility, we are looking forward to introducing the full breadth of the kate spade new york lifestyle offerings to new and existing brand fans in the region.”

Other retailers at the shopping centre include British lifestyle company Aspinal of London, American fashion firm Coach, and cosmetics brand Smashbox.

Kate Spade New York is a subsidiary of Kate Spade & Company, which was acquired by Coach for $2.4bn in July this year. The acquisition aimed to form a luxury lifestyle company with a more diverse multi-brand portfolio.
