Hypermarket chain Lenta has opened its first outlet in Kazan, Russia.

The new 5,655m² hypermarket at the Gorki Park shopping centre has a retail space of 3,248m² and offers 12,000 stock-keeping units (SKU) ranging from Lenta’s private labels to local products.

It features Lenta's super-compact format, and has 20 cash registers and 942 parking spaces.

The Kazan hypermaket brings the total number of Lenta stores to 31 hypermarkets in 21 cities across Volga, Russia.

Lenta chief executive officer Jan Dunning said: “We continue to advance our growth strategy, opening stores in new cities and building on the success of our expanding network.

"We have a well-established presence and many loyal customers in Tatarstan, where we already have three hypermarkets in Almetyevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk, and our new store in Kazan will reinforce our position in this market of nearly four million people.
