Sonae SGPS has announced plans to acquire a 100% stake in BRIO – Produtos de Agricultura Biologica, through its subsidiary.

Both based in Portugal, Sonae is involved in retail, financial services and telecommunications services businesses, while BRIO is a supermarket chain operator of organic food.

The acquisition will enable Sonae to expand its health and wellness businesses.

Investment management company Turbo Global Partners (formerly DIBZ International) has exercised an option to purchase the complete stake in GP Brands, a 360 retail pack and ship retail postal stores franchisor.

"Weird Fish will use the funds from the acquisition to expand its operations and product range."

Both the entities involved in the transaction are based in the US.
