US-based fashion speciality retailer Nordstrom Rack plans to open a store at The Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland, Washington.

Owned by CenterCal Properties, the 35,000ft2 store is slated to open next year.

Nordstrom Rack at The Village will be located along Interstate 405, and is accessible through NE 124th Street, which is a major east-west thoroughfare.

"We look forward to offering our eastside customers a more convenient location."

The new store will join Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Ross, LuxTheater, fashion retailers and several experiential restaurants in the one-million square feet The Village centre.

Nordstrom Rack president Geevy Thomas said: "When we opened our first Nordstrom Rack in the lower-level of the Downtown Seattle Nordstrom back in 1973, we could never have imagined we'd someday serve our Seattle-area customers with six stores.

"We look forward to offering our eastside customers a more convenient location, so they can spend more time shopping and less time fighting traffic."

This will be the seventh Nordstrom Rack in western part of  Washington.

The company operates six Nordstrom stores in Downtown Seattle, Bellevue Square, Northgate, Alderwood, Southcenter and Tacoma Mall.

Nordstrom Rack is an off-price retail division of Nordstrom. It sells a wide range of on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes at discounted prices.

Set up in 1901 as a shoe store in Seattle, Nordstrom currently operates 332 outlets in 39 states, including 120 full-line stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico; 204 Nordstrom Rack stores; two Jeffrey boutiques; and one clearance store.
