Nordstrom to open new store in Manhattan, US

US-based fashion speciality retailer Nordstrom has announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack outlet in Manhattan, New York, at The Durst Organization's 855 6th Avenue.

The latest one will be the second Nordstrom Rack store in Manhattan, and the company further plans to open a Manhattan flagship store in 2019.

The off-price retail division of the fashion retailer, Nordstrom Rack offers a selection of on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes.

Nordstrom Rack president Karen McKibbin said: "We are thrilled to announce a second Nordstrom Rack store in Manhattan.

"We look forward to offering visitors and residents of New York an additional location to shop with us."

The new 46,500ft² store is scheduled to open this year.

Located on the corner of 31st Street, two blocks from Herald Square, Nordstrom Rack is set to occupy the first three floors of the newly constructed tower.

The Durst Organization president Jonathan (Jody) Durst said: "With 375 rental units, 150,000ft² of office space and now 46,500ft² of retail, the building is a perfect reflection of the diversity, energy and connectivity of the NoMad neighbourhood."

Nordstrom operates 349 stores in 40 states, including 123 full-line stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
