UK-based online grocery retailer Ocado has deployed the New Relic digital intelligence platform to improve system visibility and ensure team collaboration.

Through the implementation of the solution, the company stated that it is able to improve customer experience by migrating and scaling its cloud-based infrastructure.

The retailer has also been able to enhance the operations within its automated warehouses.

Ocado Technology e-commerce OSP head Peter Thomas said: “New Relic provides the extra visibility into our systems and platforms which we need.

“It gave us confidence that our migration was going as expected and we were in a very good position to address any issues early.”

“New Relic provides the extra visibility into our systems and platforms which we need."

The Ocado Technology division was established to handle projects in cloud computing, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data and the internet of things.

New Relic was initially approached by Ocado after the latter migrated its infrastructure to Amazon Web Services to achieve flexibility and scalability to support the growth of and Ocado Smart Platform (OSP).

The OSP platform is an e-commerce solution used by Ocado to partner with grocers and other retailers to deliver an end-to-end supply chain.

In addition to visibility, New Relic offered real-time metrics to ensure that Ocado was able to address the resultant teething problems following the migration process.

Ocado was established in 2000 and has now achieved £1bn in annual sales.

New Relic is a US-based digital intelligence company that provides visibility and analytics services to improve clients’ digital business.
