Speciality pet services and solutions retailer PetSmart has opened one store each in East Sioux Falls and Oak Ridge in the US, in order to continue its expansion drive.
The East Sioux Falls store is located at 625 South Highline Place, while the shop at Oak Ridge was opened at 203 Main Street.
The move is in line with the company’s strategy of enhancing its customer base and increasing its business scale.
Earlier this month, PetSmart real estate, strategy, store operations and services executive vice-president Brian Amkraut said: “We continue to execute our real estate strategy to engage new customers and improve our competitive position.
“Our new stores capitalise on exciting trends in the pet industry, including new service offerings like Dog Therapy Training, while providing a unique in-store customer experience for pet parents.
“Expanding our retail footprint is a key component of PetSmart’s omnichannel strategy focused on convenience, including same-day and scheduled at-home delivery, as well as the popular buy online pick up in store option.”
Both the upcoming stores will feature PetSmart’s new Pinnacle Pet Nutrition section, which features an expanded product range containing high-protein, natural, grain-free, minimally processed and raw pet food.
Through this section, the company promotes the Only Natural Pet brand, featuring holistic, paleo-inspired natural foods and wholesome high-protein recipes which it claims are dehydrated, freeze-dried and air-dried.
Spread across 18,000ft², the stores also offer pet training and adoption services, in addition to a full-service grooming salon for dogs and cats.
For the quarter ended 1 May, the retailer opened 18 new stores in the US and Canada, while it established 70 stores last year.
Agreeing to acquire online pet retailer Chewy in April, PetSmart operates more than 1,500 pet stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
