US-based supermarket chain Publix has teamed up with the Instacart grocery delivery service to offer same-day home delivery from all Publix market areas by 2020.
Instacart already delivers same-day orders from Publix stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. It has created nearly 2,800 new jobs in these regions.
Expected to begin over the next five months, the expansion will bring delivery to new markets in these states, as well as Alabama and Virginia.
Since last July, Publix and Instacart have been offering same-day grocery delivery to customers via delivery.publix.com and instacart.com.
Publix senior vice-president and chief information officer Laurie Douglas said: “We selected Instacart because we knew their approach and expertise would deliver a high-quality experience for our customers.
“The overwhelming response of our customers has proven that Instacart and Publix are a strong and dynamic team.”
