US-based teen apparel retailer rue21 has appointed its chief financial officer (CFO) Keith McDonough as interim chief executive officer (CEO).
He will succeed Bob Fisch and serve in this interim role until the board of directors finds a new CEO. The announcement did not state any reason for this change.
McDonough has served as rue21's CFO for 13 years and has more than thirty years of senior leadership experience in the retail industry.
Besides the appointment of McDonough, the company announced the appointment of Nina Barjesteh as chief merchandising officer and Elizabeth Hodges as chief customer officer.
Barjesteh has more than two decades of experience in the retail industry and will succeed Kim Reynolds in this position. As the chief customer officer, Hodges will be responsible for the company’s brand marketing and advertising initiatives.
McDonough said: “We thank Bob Fisch and Kim Reynolds for their 15 years of collaboration and passion in building rue21 into a leading teen specialty apparel retailer. We are very excited to have Nina Barjesteh and Liz Hodges join the rue21 leadership team. They both will play key roles as we further position our business for long-term growth."
rue21 operates 1,213 stores in 48 states and it is scheduled to open around 40 stores in the fiscal year ended 2016.
