American retail major Wal-Mart has launched its online wholesale platform in India, offering the service in Hyderabad and Lucknow.
The virtual store, www.bestpricewholesale.co.in, is exclusively for members of Best Price modern wholesale stores in the two cities. It will offer the same range of products as its wholesale stores, as well as special items for members, the company said
Wal-Mart India president and chief executive officer Krish Iyer said, "This initiative is aimed at enhancing our members’ shopping experience by integrating physical and digital store presence."
"It represents an additional channel for us to serve our members better and help them save money as it comes with the added convenience of ordering online, door-step delivery within 24 hours and several payment solutions," he added.
Prior to the launch, Wal-Mart India organized workshops to give a better understanding about website navigation, benefits and registration processes, the company said in a statement.
Further, Wal-Mart is also planning to expand its presence to other cities -where it has a physical presence -by January.
