US-based retailer Walmart has announced a free two-day shipping service for more than two million items to homes and stores.

The American retailer has also lowered the minimum purchase required for free home delivery from $50 to $35.

Walmart US e-commerce president and CEO Marc Lore said: “We are moving at the speed of a start-up.

“Two-day free shipping is the first of many moves we will be making to enhance the customer experience and accelerate growth.”

The company further stated that its free two-day shipping will be available on popular items and household essentials such as baby necessities, pet products, food, cleaning supplies and beauty favourites, as well as electronics and toys.
