Weis Markets has signed an agreement to acquire five stores of Mars Super Markets in Baltimore County, Maryland, US.
Expected to be complete by July, the deal is part of Weis Markets’s strategy to increase its presence in the region.

Following the acquisition, Weis Markets will operate nine stores in Baltimore County. The company currently has stores in Perry Hall, Towson and Woodlawn.
Weis Markets chairman and CEO Jonathan Weis said: “This is an important acquisition for us as we’ve been steadily expanding within Baltimore County in recent years.
“We have great respect for Mars, the D’Anna family and their associates who have long-served the public as a locally focused food retailer. These are successful, well-run stores and we look forward to interviewing the associates of these stores for employment with our company.”
