American multinational technology company Yahoo! has agreed to acquire social shopping site Polyvore for an undisclosed amount.
Based in California, Polyvore operates an online community for fashion and trends discussion. Its category includes dresses, skirts, tops, jackets, coats, jeans, pants, handbags, shoes, and jewelry.
Polyvore also provides styling tools to mix and match products from various online stores to create fashion collections.
With this acquisition, Yahoo will improve its consumer and advertiser offerings as Polyvore will bolster Yahoo’s digital magazines and verticals through the incorporation of community and commerce.
The companies will jointly work on driving traffic and sales to over 350 retailers by offering native shopping ads.
Yahoo Publisher Products senior vice president Simon Khalaf said: "Polyvore has built an excellent team, a category leading product, and a strong business based on a highly engaged community.
