Dutch supermarket chain PLUS Retail has decided to deploy in-store digital shelf-edge solutions provider Pricer’s electronic shelf label (ESL) platform to all stores.
The first phase of the rollout is valued at approximately SEK100m ($10.3m), included in Pricer’s order intake for the second quarter of 2020.
Total project value for all of PLUS Retail’s stores, more than 265 stores, is estimated at approximately SEK 165m ($17m).
Implementation of the first phase should begin during the second quarter and complete by the third quarter of this year.
With the aim of implementing the platform across all of its stores before the end of the first quarter of 2021, the retailer could make orders for the remaining phases during the second half of 2020.
Pricer CEO Helena Holmgren said: “Pricer’s delivery of innovative solutions for in-store digitalisation, based on our hardware, software and cloud-based services, will give PLUS Retail a real edge in the market. We look forward to supporting PLUS Retail in optimising the store operations and improving the customer experience.”
Pricer’s cloud-based ESL platform, Pricer Plaza, has been selected after successfully assessing the technology in-store.
In addition to Pricer Plaza, PLUS Retail will install SmartTag Power labels in all of its stores.
Speaking of the development, PLUS Retail CEO Duncan Hoy said: “We value Pricer’s ability to offer both innovation as well as reliability and durability.
“We are always striving to improve the customer experience, and these new solutions will really add value to both our customers and our store owners.”
