REI Rockies/Great Plains region regional director Janet Hopkins said: “REI’s presence in Colorado began in 1983 with our first store in Denver. Loveland will be our tenth location in the state.

“We look forward to serving the community and visitors who come to enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park, the Long View Trail and the Colorado Front Range Trail, and endless outdoor opportunities. REI will also seek partnerships with local outdoor nonprofits to support their efforts in protecting natural places and welcoming more people outside.”

REI has a strong membership base with 61,000 members in the Loveland area and 1.32 million members in Colorado.

Members enjoy benefits such as the Re/Supply trade-in programme, discounts on services and experiences and a share of annual profits.

In January 2024, REI Co-op revealed plans to expand its presence in the US with ten new stores in 2024.
