UK-based supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is offering more convenience and shopping choices for residents in Telford, Shropshire, with the opening of its newest Local store.

Located on Holyhead Road in Ketley, the new store features fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks and food-to-go, as well as sweet, savoury and frozen staples.

Sainsbury’s Ketley Holyhead Road Local also provides convenience services such as the in-store Click and Collect for Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing products ordered online.

The new store will generate jobs for local communities. Colleagues will actively participate in the local community and in the company’s nationwide charitable programmes and initiatives.

Sainsbury’s Ketley Holyhead Road Local store manager Adrian Harris said: “It was a privilege to join members of my new store team to cut the ribbon and declare our new Sainsbury’s Local open for the community. We know our neighbours have been looking forward to our arrival and we were really pleased to be able to welcome them for the first time today.”

The store is built on the site of the White Lion pub and was designed together with the local planning authority.

Sainsbury’s property director Patrick Dunne said: “We really pulled out all the stops to build the best store we could, working with the Council to agree on and incorporate various nods to the appearance of the original 1900s building. We are delighted with the result and we think our customers will be too.”

Last week, Sainsbury’s opened a new local store in Wapping Lane, Tower Hamlets, in London.
